Nashville Recording Project Update 6.29.11

Hey everyone! Here are some pics of the band in studio working on my project. This is a group shot of us in the Control Room. Some really great guys and absolutely great musicians.....I am soooooo lucky to have people of this quality working on my project. From left to right in the group picture is Mark Childers, Shawn Fichter, Me, Jonathan Lawson, and James Waddell. Mark is Carrie Underwood's bass player, Shawn played drums for and toured with Peter Frampton and Trisha Yearwood, Jonathan of course is the all around guy for Sara Evans (guitar, fiddle, madolin) and James is my Producer and Grammy Award Winner! These guys really worked hard on my behalf today and I am so greatful and humbled by their great musical abililites. Thanks guys soooooooo much! Girl can't get much luckier than this but back off girlfriends, they're all married! ; )

New Recording Project

Hello everyone! Sorry it's been so long since my last update. Been very busy doing the Nashville thing. I'm writing and focusing on the guitar. Plus, like any starving artist I've had to work to pay the bills too! I go back into the recording studio next week to work on my next project and hope you'll follow along to track the progress. My Producer, James Waddell (Grammy Award Winner!) and all around great guy will be producing the project and a bunch of really great Nashville musicians will be involved. Happy new year everyone! I pray 2011 is a great year for all of you. I plan to have more songs recorded this year and perhaps get enough attention to be able to go over and entertain our troops during the holidays in 2011. I love being with my family during the holidays and can't imagine the sacrifices they endure during this time and if I could do anything to bring a smile to their faces or remind them of home during that time I really want to do it. So, for those of you serving in the military, especially those overseas serving in harms way, thank you for what you do, for what you've done to ensure freedom; hope to see you in 2011! Here are a couple of pictures of RIP (really important people) in my life and BIG supporters of mine; nobody like family. One of my Grandmother and Granddad Holden and me; they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in November. And the other of me and my oldest sister Ashlee; I've been truly blessed. My earliest memories are of my grandfather with a guitar singing at our family gatherings. He's been a great musical influence in my life. My heart was full this day! Hello everyone, thanks for being patient. I've been helping my older sister and her husband with their growing family. My newest niece arrived recently, 8lbs, 21inches, lots of dark hair and very healthy. Makes me wonder how my sister who barely weighted 100 lbs herself could have such a big baby! Everyone is doing great and my neice Bently, my nephew Holden and of course Berklee are doing great. I'll be headed back to Nashville and back to my regular routine soon and working on my chance of making it big in the Country Music biz. But it's been great helping the fam! Thanks for checking in. Quik Trip to NM

Made a quick trip out to New Mexico to check on my best friend Lindsey who was thrown from a horse and fractured three vertebrae. She was on bed rest but is up and around, moving slowly, gently, but on the road to recovery. Very happy to have spent some time with her and help lift her spirits a little. Love you Lindsey -- keep following the Dr's orders and get well soon, stay away from those horses just a little longer before gettin' back in the saddle. Also got to see my friend Chris Krupar perform at Buffalo Thunder, he's the lead singer for the group the Calql8trz (Calculators), it's a retro 80's pop music group. The band members dress up as geeks; pretty funny. But nothing funny about the music, they are great musicians. Check Chris and the Calql8trz out if you get a chance, they're an awesome group and put on a great show.

Studio Work Went Great

I spent most of yesterday in the studio http://www.lyricanvas.com/ with James, Taylor and Jonathan laying down tracks for one of my songs; they did most of the work, I just did a rough scratch vocal for the guys to work with as they did their instrument tracks. But, compared to my AI2010 tryout it was night and day as far as experiences go....it's great to work with such good guys who are so great at their profession and love what they do. Ah! After waiting almost the entire day to get my 20 secs my chance at being a member of the AI 2010 cast is over. The answer was no. My judge was from Australia and said "the bar has been raised to its highest level ever". I guess we'll see when the show airs whether that is the case or not. But, for me it's back to Chili's and the recording studio. Thanks for following my blog and for all the encouragement everyone. I think I'll start a AIr-J (American Idol re-Ject) help group Amy's Email; there's certainly enough of us out there now! Ha! American Idol Nashville Registration Today

Today is registration day for AI'10 in Nashville. Already a huge line gathering outside of Bridgestone Arena. It's going to be a longggggggggg wait to just get in the door! CMT's Wow! What A Show!

Hey eveyone did you see me on TV last night? If you did you're really good at paying attention.....it was very quick...I was sitting right behind NASCAR Legend, The King, Richard Petty.....in his big black hat....yes, of course it covered my face!!!! Ha! But I was right there when Kid Rock called out the King during the show for the crowd to recognize. It was real quick and you can't blink or you'd miss me for sure. But, it was a great night....quite a show....Carrie did an awesome job with her latest hit..."Undo It"....although someone had her mic turned down too low or it malfuntioned or something but she didn't miss a beat just pushed through and put on a show for everyone. Got to rub shoulders with the great Tim McGraw and Martina McBride...of course they had no idea who I was...but that didn't matter...it was great to be there and see so much talent on one stage. Didn't you just love The Zac Brown Band moment..."Free" all those fireflys....hope they showed up on TV. And my dad loves Jamey Johnson and everything he writes and sings....so traditional country....his favorite is "Should Have Seen It in Color". Thanks Mama Sue, we had a great time!

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry about not having any of my music or my music video on the blogspot or on youtube.com; the people I'm working with in Nashville have asked me to take my music down for the time being. And, they know a whole lot more about the business than I do so I'm following their recommendations. I hope to have some music back up on my sites sometime this summer and I appreciate all the requests to hear me singing again. Music City Flood!

Have you been watching the national news? Music City is underwater! The Grand Ole Opry stage is under a foot of water. The Cumberland River crested about 52 feet! I actually got blocked off by flooding streets and couldn't get home. Thankfully my dad is here visiting and was able to find a way around all the flooded streets, in the middle of the rain storms and a tornado warning, to find me and get me home! What an experience! We got over 13 inches of rain in less than 24 hours! My mom was begining to think we should build an Ark. I actually went back to work at Chili's today. I still love Nashville! Amy

Hey everyone another great update! Just notified that I've been hired by Chili's here in Nashville - actually in Brentwood just a little over the hill on Old Hickory Blvd! Is that cool or what? I love Chili's and I definitely need the extra money for all the coaching I need. Hey everyone! Thanks for coming back to visit. Sorry I don't have any music ready for you. I've been really really busy over the last week or so. Besides working almost full time between two jobs I've met with my Image Consultant, Suzzane Skinner (she is so great, we call her Mama Sue) and today I had the opportunity to be evaluated by vocal coach Kim Wood Sandusky (Beyonce's personal vocal coach); what a workout! This next week I get the opportunity to work the Dove Awards here in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry-I am so lucky to have people like Mama Sue! Amy's Living In Nashville!

I'm here and I'm already loving it! Just got settled in and ready to go to work. My focus now will be sing, Sing, SING and I could not be happier! I can tell I'm going to enjoy calling Nashville my home. There is such a wonderful feeling around here, and I'm guessing it has do with that southern hospitality I've heard so much about! Who knows maybe I'll pick up a little bit of an southern accent too! I'll post some pictures soon!

Amy is in Nashville; Music City USA!!! She had a great time at Tom Jackson's Bootcamp and had the awesome opportunity to meet Bernard Porter of Porter-Gentry.......what a great guy! She performed at 2602 Soundstage for Bernard, Tom and Brett Manning. Later she got to meet Bernard's wife, what a beautiful lady, at a local production of "New Nashville a new showcase for new Nashville talent. There were a bunch of great new artists on stage performing and they all did an awesome job.......I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC.....overall this has been just a great experience.
